What will Transatlantic Shipping Demand look like in 2021

There has been no doubt that the current global pandemic has caused a stop on a lot of trade, and while lockdowns across the globe may have halted shipping demand, with things picking up in the last few months, the prediction that there would be no international shipping peak has become a thing of the past. So, what does transatlantic shipping demand look like in 2021? With a sturdy rise in shipping container orders it seems that the demand may continue into next year. We wanted to explore a little and see what the projections are looking like for the next year ahead.

Brexit may have an effect

While we cannot predict which way things will go for the rest of this year alone with the unknown of covid-19, there are other factors that could influence shipping and one of them is Brexit. This might be because of trade deals that we need to be aware of, and whether that will happen for shipping as the UK relays heavily on imported goods as well as its own produce. There are also the costs involved in normal purchases from other countries that the public will make. Depending on the trade deal, Brexit will have a positive and/or a negative effect on transatlantic shipping.                        

The results of the American presidential election and trade deals

Another thing to consider would be the American Presidential election results in November. Depending on which party either gets into power or remains in power with Donald Trump could then have an effect on whether or not trade deals with other countries will be likely to continue for imports and exports. Which will then impact the shipping side of things.
