Ups and Downs of doing business in covid-19 age

The world has seen major changes due to COVID-19, and while many industries have seen massive alterations or have gone by the wayside, the logistics industry has continued to flourish. But how has the logistics industry benefited, and are there any drawbacks?

Pros

  • More online orders. Every industry has seen a spike of online orders, and the logistics industry has reaped the benefits. From increased demand for groceries due to panic buying to people ordering items from eBay, deliveries have spiked.
  • Lack of disruption in certain parts of the supply chain. Truck drivers and solitary aspects of the chain have seen minimal disruption, and there has been a demand for more drivers in every profession.
  • Increased communication. The segregated nature of a supply chain and the increase of remote working has resulted in more communication, guaranteeing a better working relationship.

Cons

  • We need more resilient supply chains. There are aspects of the chain struggling to keep up with demand, coupled with the need for more workers.
  • The tech needs to catch up. Tech has proven a problem in terms of communication, and it’s a matter of time before the internet industries need to provide faster connections so businesses and supply chains can improve.

The world has been going through a tough time due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and although we all expected that this thing would go away in a month or so, it’s still here. The logistics industry stayed strong and it is clearly one of the winner industries during COVID-19. COVID-19 is having a major impact on the logistics industry and will continue to cause disruptions for some time.
