Pallet Delivery After Brexit

Pallet Delivery After Brexit

As you know, the UK officially left the EU on 31 January 2020. While there’ll be an 11-month transition period to ease into new rules and regulations, especially where trade is concerned, it’s important to understand how Brexit affects elements like pallet delivery for your business.

Take a look at some of the things your business will need to take into consideration when Brexit fully comes into force.

Import VAT

Many eCommerce retailers sell goods within the EU. These goods will now be subject to Import VAT, which will mean many businesses will now need to register for VAT in Europe. EU companies will also need to register for UK VAT if they fall under the £70,000 threshold.

Parcels Between Ireland and Northern Ireland

For now, the process for parcels between Ireland and Northern Ireland remains the same. Once the transition period is over, however, the rules could change and stricter customs checks may be needed. This information is currently being decided upon by the UK Government.

Customs When Sending to the EU

Customs declarations will now be necessary in order to send goods to the EU, potentially incurring additional charges for your business. Many couriers and delivery companies will take care of the customs paperwork and fees as part of their service, helping you make deliveries quicker.

At Speedshift, we provide an exceptional service that can help you navigate some of the uncertainties around Brexit. Find out more about how we can help by contacting us today.
