Pallet Courier Scams To Watch Out For

Pallet Courier Scams To Watch Out For

Are you worried about the issue of courier scams? Here’s what you need to know.

What are Pallet Courier scams?

Courier scams will often target vulnerable people including the elderly and start with a phone call from a fraudster. They will impersonate someone like a bank office or a member of the police and claim that money has been removed from the victim’s bank account or a similar scenario. They may also claim that they are looking for evidence in a currency exchange case. The courier then instructs the victim to remove money from a bank account or that an expensive item needs to be collected. They are then reassured they will get any money or items back.

Courier Fraud Examples

44 people have been arrested since November 2019 in raids for this type of scam. These criminals are also often part of larger organizations, designed to exploit the most vulnerable. Courier scams involve fraudsters contacting victims by email as well as on the phone.

Once the money is collected the fraudster vanishes.

How To Protect Yourself

You can protect yourself from a courier scam by knowing the action a bank or the police will not take. Neither will ask you to withdraw money or hand over an expensive item. They will also never show up at your door to collect the money, regardless of how plausible the scenario may seem. If you have any doubt, make sure that you question it and refuse to provide your info. If something feels wrong in a case like this, it probably is.
